-Job Description: -Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an experienced
Project Engineer for -our Huntsville, AL. The Project Engineer
involves performing and/or coordinating propulsion programs tasks
in conjunction with program management. Under general -direction,
you will be responsible for implementing design and analysis tasks
and overseeing special studies and experiments. Additionally, you
will coordinate thermal and structural analyses, as well as perform
post-test examination, analyses, and reporting while supporting the
program technical lead. - -Essential Functions: -
- 60% Support engineering teams working on solid rocket motor
development and production program tasks/problem resolution, etc.,
-Coordinate engineering work; manage technical progress, risk,
schedule, and cost as needed.
- 15% Monitor technical progress and interface with Program
Management, Aerojet Rocketdyne customers, and other Aerojet
Rocketdyne functional organizations to understand and develop
resolution to program technical issues.
- 15% Provide technical consultation to Program Management and
Business Development organizations for business development
activities such as writing white papers or preparing and presenting
technical briefings to customers.
- 5% Support the technical lead on proposals to government
customers or prime contractors for propulsion development or
technology programs.
- 5% Provide inputs to written and verbal status reports to
Engineering lead, Aerojet Rocketdyne Management, and provide input
and leadership at production team meetings. -
- Use of engineering test equipment, CAD, and computer
applications with various office and engineering software
applications.
- Use of a variety of test and measurement equipment to interpret
data.
- Interpret and evaluate engineering problems and
statements.
- Systems engineering principles in Requirements and Risk &
Opportunity Management.
- Theories, -principles, and practices of engineering and project
management methods.
- Principles of budgets and schedule management for assigned
project scope, such as Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Rocket propulsion component(s) and theory of operations.
- Understanding and leading Root Cause and Corrective Action
(RCCA) process.
- Conduct technical and programmatic risk assessments. -
- Balance technical scope, customer expectations, and business
interests. -
- Lead teams and operate effectively in a team environment.

- Use of test equipment, CAD, and computer applications with
various office and engineering software applications.
- Provide imaginative, thorough, and practical solutions to a
wide range of technical problems involving the conventional
utilization and technical problems involving the conventional
utilization of engineering techniques.
- Read and interpret, and write technical specifications and
technical documents.
- Write clear and accurate technical reports.
- Prepare technical and design requirements in support of project
goals.
- Keep current in relevant technologies and methods in support of
project assignments.
- Provide direction in problem investigations and resolution
across functional areas.
- Provide imaginative, thorough, and practical solutions to a
wide range of technical problems involving the conventional
utilization of engineering techniques. -
- Understanding and/or leads Root Cause and Corrective Action
(RCCA ) process.
- May provide technical guidance to less senior project engineers
and project support personnel.
- May be assign Cost Account Management (CAM) duties.
- Ability to obtain a DOD Security Clearance.
- Travel: 10%.Qualifications: -
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 -years of prior project
engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 -years
of prior project engineering experience. In lieu of a degree,
minimum of 8 -years of prior project engineering
experience.Preferred Additional Skills: -
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering is
preferred.
- 3 or more years of experience with solid rocket propellant
propulsion projects is highly desired.
- Background in CAD, GD&T, Analysis or Materials is
desirable
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is
desired.Familiarity with standard engineering tools and
practices.Ability to create technical reports and present
