THINK OUTSIDE.SCOPE The Reliability Engineer is responsible for
guiding efforts to ensure the reliability and efficiency of
process, facility, peripheral and ancillary equipment is
continuously improving. Utilizing RCM principles, techniques, and
processes, the Reliability Engineer will spearhead efforts to
coordinate and direct cross-functional teams in closing gaps in
productivity through improvements in reliability. This role can be
further subdivided into two distinct areas: loss elimination and
risk management.Loss Elimination One of the primary
responsibilities of the Reliability Engineer role is to reduce
asset costs. These improvements will be prioritized to focus
efforts on the most critical opportunities. The Reliability
Engineer (with the full support of Engineering, Operations, Safety
and other functions) will manage the development and execution of
improvement plans to reduce repair and maintenance costs using RCM
methodologies.Risk Management The Reliability Engineer is also
responsible for improving equipment availability and eliminating
equipment failure modes through the use Failure Mode and Effects
Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Materials Analysis, and
Analysis of Action on process and facility assets to understand
equipment failures, analyze root cause of failure, organize and
direct a cross-functional team in developing countermeasures and
tracking execution of improvement actions across all responsible
disciplines. Coaching new and veteran team members of all levels in
FMEA, RCA, activity planning and quantifying/analyzing results
data, will also be required from time to time.RESPONSIBILITIES The
Reliability Engineer's responsibilities include, but are not
limited to, the following activities:
- Act as a resource for Project Managers through new installation
and machine modification projects to ensure all aspects of
reliability, per PPS, have been documented and verified, applying
CQV where required.
- Assist and coach PMs in developing design / installation
specifications and commissioning plans, inspection parameters and
acceptance criteria. Assist PMs in developing their FAT
assessments. Perform acceptance inspections on new equipment upon
initial arrival to the facility and work with PMs to correct any
manufacturing defects, design flaws/misses, and non-compliant
conditions from the vendor.
- Participate in setting the Certification, Qualification and
Validation data requirements of new installations and machine
modifications.
- Understand and develop improvement actions for the equipment
asset maintenance and reliability plan, leveraging RCM
methodologies.
- Drive RCA activities in compliance with the Polaris Production
System philosophy. Incorporate diverse resources from Engineering,
Safety, Quality, Production and other groups to ensure all
potential root causes are addressed. Assign and follow up on
countermeasure tasking for each RCA.
- Apply appropriate data analysis and reliability tools and
techniques to fulfill the above responsibility. Including:
- Statistical process control
- Reliability modeling and prediction
- Fault tree analysis
- Weibull analysis
- Root cause analysis (RCA) and root cause failure analysis
(RCFA)
- Failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action system
(FRACAS)
- Utilize Engineering and Operations to aid in the analysis of
asset profiles, including:
- Asset availability or overall equipment effectiveness
- Remaining useful life
- Other parameters that define asset operating conditions,
reliability, and costsRELATIONSHIPS The Reliability Engineer
reports directly to the Facilities Maintenance Manager.To qualify
